Are you bike crazy, or just a rider?

This idea is poached from the Sportbike Network. Are you bike crazy, or just a rider? There's a difference, but there are no defined boundaries. So list your own.

The biggest one I could think of for myself: I have a BMW 525i and Volvo turbo wagon in my garage and driveway, and I rode my Hawk to work in the rain the last two days.

'87 Suzuki GSXR1100/1207cc - traded to get my Hawk back

    Bike Crazy or a Rider?

My wife would call me Bike Crazy and I have been told I have motorcycle A.D.D. ( I am always looking for bikes)

I haven't out more than 5000 miles on a bike in a year ever and last year I bet I didn't put 2000 total street miles on both bikes together. (I did get to 2 trackdays and got bit by that racing bug for next year)

I honestly have to say that since I got to the track street riding has held less of an appeal. I never understood that until I got on the track.

I am looking forward to going on more rides next year ( I am the president of a motorcycle club for christ sake)

You know you are bike crazy when:

All you want for Christmas is __________ for your bike (fill in the blank)

You have more Bikes than you can possibly ride but you want more
You plan vacations around bike weeks
You would rather go to the garage and stare at your bikes than do anything else (unless the else is going for a ride!)
You read as many bike mags as possible
you spend alot of time at work surfing the hawkgtforum
you wish speedvision would drop all the nascar stuff and stick to bikes!

I find my self in the middle... I was a rider when I had my smaller less fun bikes (82 Yamaha Maxim 400 and Honda Rebel 250). These i used to go back and fourth from work... and the occasional ride around to do stuff on the weekends... nothing special.

Now that I got my Hawk... I still use it to go back and fourth to work... BUT now I find my self looking for the twistest roads I can find and also found a few riding buddies with GXSR, VFR and 600RR and we go out just to ride... not out to get a haircut like before and I am looking into taking a riding class at a local track (MId-Ohio) this summer.

So now I guess I am falling into the "Crazy" zone... cause I am tearing mine down to do some custom work and my wife is looking at me like... IM CRAZY... LOL

I dont know if i am bike crazy..But i rode about 7k miles last yr..nothing impressive except how many were twisties. When i am not riding my bike i am working on finishing it up (visually) or shopping for parts...I ride in the rain..downpours..
I did not on the other hand take it out in the snow with two of my other friends..i draw lines, but mainly those lines are there to protect my bike from damage.

As a newb from this april I thaught i was just a rider, till I realized that I cant even leave the house without giving the bike a second look. Even now as its in pieces gettin a few customes done to it im still tempted to slap it together and take it any time its semi dry out and above 30 degres. So I guess I'm crazy. I put 3k on mine since late april.
90 Hawk. What can I do to make it better?

As a mental health professional I can confirm that Motorcycle Craziness is in fact a recognized DSM-IV diagnosis.

And boy howdy, have I ever got it!

-I make up for the fact that I didn't keep receipts at first by keeping a notebook of every aftermarket part and modification I've ever done, their cost, item#, and the contact information of wherever I sourced the part from, as well as for modifications I'd like to do or parts I need. I keep the Hawk's VIN, plate #, insurance # and contact info in there too, along with a running tally of when I need to renew registration, inspection, and insurance. Everything's broken down into categories: chassis, electrical, suspension, engine & performance, paint. I carry this with me. Not on the bike, but actually with me. I make notes all the time.

-Ask my wife what I'm like when I see a Hawk on the road. I'm like a child.

-I became an admin here when the creator of the site noticd I was here more than he was.

-I've made the obligatory east-coast-resident pilgrimage to Casa Lenac, the Hawk Mecca. Twice.

-Lenac busts my stones because I post too damn much on the List.

-I'm not satisfied just customizing my Hawk... I turned a 1:18 Duc 999 into a streetfighter, destroying a 1:18 Monster and a CBR in the process. Yes, it got a front end conversion.

-There are no gauges on my Hawk, just a 1" square digi speedo that's not gone on yet. Purely an aesthetic decision. Has absolutely nothing to do with a desire for accuracy.

-Regular mirrors bug me. Hawks without bar-end mirrors make me cringe; it's like a pretty girl in an ugly dress. I once chased after another Hawk on the highway just so I could offer him my spare set of bar-end mirrors (and offer to help him replace his busted signals with my spares). Yes, I'm serious.
