I have some beauties.Couple of treasures.
    5lb Craftsman DBL bit- workhorse.
    OurBest Camp axe- pack axe
vintage 1lb DBL bit hatchet- my pop's childhood tool and vicious
    CRKT Kangee- nasty and indestructible

always wanted the longer Estwing camp axe.....but I had the OurBest.........if it isn't broken.....don't fix it.
It's the one that got away that I long for.......saw it at a hardware store years ago and I've been kicking myself ever since....2.5lb Plumb DBL-bit.....full size and half the weight of my Craftsman.
Made the Sears look clunky and crude by comparison.

Those lumberjack contests are bullshit......I'd like to see someone change out those fir logs for something like rock maple ,birch, or oak. Then we'll see who the real man is.....instead of a 8 second long.....be more like 8 minutes..... might as well be cutting Styrofoam.

There should be a luthier that will take you out into the woods, let youvpick your tree and make you a guitar from it.. Then you bond from the begening..

                      I made a 1/4 -round out of a 8' Douglas fir 4x4 using a worm-drive skill, and a block plane. That's about as far as I'll go

You'll be sucking wind before you get through a cord with that thing.I use an axe-handle 8 pounder.First trick to splitting wood......don't fucking cut it too long ! And split it COLD baby! 30 degrees is splitting weather.
