Anyone ever rebuid a transfer case?

The Huber clutch/trans is by Twin Disc Inc, Racine, WI. Just down the road from Milwaukee. Makes you wonder.

I have never done one, but it can't be any more difficult than a MC transmission.

Here is a link for you that has some various T-cases done by Precision Transmission. That gentleman and his son run a business doing nothing but transmission and drivetrain stuff, and are highly sought after for their work and he does really good tear down's and tells you what to look for and how to get them apart. Rebuilding your t-case should just be a matter of a few replacement parts if its a good non-auto unit and somewhat affordable in comparison to having a shop overcharge you.

My truck is having some serious issues in 4x4. Clicking, clunking, skipping, jerking, reasonably loud and violent issues. Riding in 2wd seems like a valid short term solution, but I promise, it's not. We had to pull that truck out of something 3 times so far this week.

Sounds/feels like it's coming from the transfer case. I was in the search for a rebuilt one and my parts dude talked me into getting a rebuild kit for it instead.

Besides a chain, it seems to all be bearings and seals. I'm assuming there is something else in there that is broken, but won't know till I get it apart.
It looks like a LOT of pressing things in and out and not a lot of shit that looks like it will fix the issues.

It's my only ride, I can't have it down for weeks. Local trans shop is out 3 month's right now. Local salvage yards are free out of them.

Anyone done this? Hordpower maybe? (for some reason if I'm over my head technically on anything mechanical at all I always feel like JD has done it before... )
