No need to abolish. I no longer think newspapers and news websites are news but opinionated entities. I simply choose not to listen to any, left, right, center, take your pick. I am not annoyed. I don't need protected when I can take care of myself. Just because someone is educated with a degree doesn't guarantee that they are smart.

This is my 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.

Every entity has its agenda. And the tool to discern this was stigmatized as "cynicism."

Knowing what someone's agenda is and what they are telling you lets you understand what they are compelling you do to, feel, think, or believe.

And the corollary or hearing exactly what they want you to do, vs what they are telling you, allows you to discern their agenda.

Hope and fear are both manipulative tools. Anyone who uses either cannot be trusted... EVER. But that doesn't mean that you cannot reach the truth from what they say.

A truthful person presents only one fact. A liar tells you three: what they think you know, what they think will compel you to behave according to their agenda, and ultimately: their agenda.

I don't mind being surrounded by liars. You reach the truth so much faster that way.

News websites can fuck right off. Tracking what people read leads to only presenting them with stories that will keep them reading (in the best case). In the worst case, it profiles you into the next group that gets categorically 'dealt with.'

I hope print media never goes out of style. Nor free radio. Buying a paper with a few coins or making a speaker vibrate by oscillations of RF waves are anonymous. We have to do everything we can to preserve them.

Stay sharp and always think for yourselves.

And whatever I think is MY business.

The internet can be just as, if not far more anonymous than print... If people would learn a little bit about tech and security.

The problem with print media is that to get it to large amounts of people costs large amounts of money. People mostly only spend large amounts of money when they can make back larger amounts of money.

That leads to either telling your readership what they want to hear so you can advertise to them (make them pay with their time for the luxury of having their opinions reinforced), or you push an agenda that will make you money on the back end some how.

I can fire up an anonymous website for $15 and post to it as much as I want. The whole world can see it if the contents seem worth sharing to the readers.

Don't spend money and buy, spend time and learn.
