Already?!?
I used to love Hanukkah. It was the pre Christmas holiday. In my house we celebrated both, and it was like a week of warm up gifts.
Candles where cool too.
But I hated Passover. Lots of reading in languages that I don't know, singing songs I don't know, and eating really bad food. Soup was ok, the rest, let's just say that my Nana wasn't much of a cook.
Shout out to my Grandma Regina. She lived in the apartment down stairs from my grandparents on that side. She was a holocaust survivor, had a # tattoo. I forget what camp. She was in her late 80s when I was a kid in the 90s.
At Passover she would let me and my step sister come play in her apartment and sneak us food so we where not hungry during the ceremony and didn't have to eat much of the dinner after (even she knew it was terrible).
Over there once for regular dinner I dropped a big chunk of meat with gravy on the white carpet. We where sitting next to eachother. She took the heat for me. That's a down bitch right there.
Off topic, I know. But what an amazing lady.
