Ted was supposed to fly out at 4:00 this morning. Get to the airport to see the flight is cancelled..

Then take to the internet and learn almost all of them are cancelled. Try to call... Their phone system is down. Try and rebook on the web, it won't let me because it says the flight already happened.

I now have a kid here who needs to be back in CA and I have no way of getting him there. What in the hell southwest!!

They blamed the weather.. but all the other airlines need to fly in the same weather and they are not canceling 5400 flights and then sticking their heads in the ground and shutting off their phones..

I hope you can get something worked out without too much stress. Flying, in general, has been a nightmare these last couple of years, add in weather cancellations and its gotta be fuel on the fire. On the bright side, you and you're kid have a little more time together and that will matter more a year from now than whatever he is missing in the next day or two. God sends us favors in weird ways sometimes....

I heard on the radio today on a talk show "Tom Sullivan"out of New York that was the weather for some of it but their software for handling flight attendant call in for flights and to manage crew shifts was out so they cancelled many flights due to not a legal amount of crew available. Software is now key to business process. No software working as it should, business shuts down. Whatever it was will come out soon.
