Man had a lot of backbone. May have been a flawed human (aren’t we all?) but he helped push this country forward by leaps and bounds.

He had the right idea but I think he would be appalled at where the civil rights movement has gone. He advocated a color blind society and we have preferential treatment now. He wanted equal rights not quotas. Equal treatment under the law, not a separate system for minority on white crime vs white on minority crime, aka "hate crimes". And I say this as a minority that literally lost everything 80 years ago.

I took the time to read the whole MKJ speech the other day. I could not help but think how controversial MLK's words would be now if posted anonymously. He also states the importance of the Constitution and its promise it provides for all.

Get far enough from any time period and its people seem barbaric.

Its a gross habit of humans. Keep looking back at the past generations and coming up with reasons why we are "better" now...
