So my son drives 60 miles one way to school and has been taking our Bolt. He still will but with work etc. sometimes we need a 3rd car. He has the cash in the bank so we started looking. I asked him what he wanted. He said good on gas, cheap and reliable or easy to keep on the road. Enter the $2500 2013 Chevy Spark. 5 speed MT (he's learning and almost got it). I test drove it, it has good brakes, good tires, good suspension, no clunks bangs etc. 0-60MPH er yes but it will do the job. Fairly rust free and should be a fine first car. Insurance was cheap too. First thing we did was pull it in the garage and change the oil and filter, air filter, cabin filter and MT fluid is being done. We drained the old(bad) stuff but I only had half the needed amount in my jug so picked up a bottle to finish that tonight and has a baseline start for maintenance. He did all the wrenching with dad just pointing stuff out. A set of snow tires is all that's left.

Just figured out we have a throw out bearing starting to go, learning to launch and shift is hard on things LOL, So we will likely be doing a full on clutch refresh and all the internals that go with it. Good thing is not hard to do and parts are not $$$, $300 all in for clutch, flywheel, slave, bearings etc.Comment

I taught Wes to drive a stick on the Thunderbird just last week,
Its s scary prospect when you have them in a car you care about.
My wifes parents went out and bought a civic with a clutch that was already going. Taught my wife and her sister the basics on that slipping pile of shit, then went and got the clutch replaced when they had got the hang of it. Thought that was a good idea.Don't spend money and buy, spend time and learn.👍 1Comment
