  • WeMoto Ignition Switch

My ignition switch was about to fail completely so I thought I would buy one of these. Several others said it was a "Plug and Play"

I got it in and took some pictures. I am going to see if I can just use the base off of the new switch and attach to the old Honda switch. I hate having multiple keys on Bikes!

More to come as I do the install...

The ignition switch almost exactly the same as the OEM switch. Externally I cannot find any differences. The WeMoto (Hendler?) switch looks to be a quality piece. The key turns smoothly and the switch plugged right and worked perfect. I took it apart as far as i could and found a key difference from the OEM switch.

The base of the switch has a plastic rotating element instead of an aluminum one like the OEM. Whether or not that makes a difference long term is yet to be determined. Perhaps others can attest to the longevity of the switch.

I swapped out the new base onto my old key switch and it fit perfectly. My next step is to try and remove the key / tumbler cover and put it on my original OEM set. It looks like I may have to cut it off as it was not made to be removed. Hopefully I don't tear it up so bad I can't use it.

Really? Do you have a link? Is it just the base?

Well it was a PITA but I managed to get the plastic lock cover off the new switch. Damn near destroyed it getting off. I am glad I did as the old switch was pretty faded and sad looking.

So I got to use my same old key and have a fully functional new switch. I have not had a chance to ride yet (too freaking hot in H-Town).

Time will tell if it is reliable.

They must not offer it anymore....I cannot find it anywhere on Dennis Kirk under NT650.

Less choice is never a good thing.

Probably a late question but what was the Hendler part #?

Good question, I put the box in my attic, I will get up there and see if there was a P/N on it.

Thanks. I was just curious and trying to cross reference with EMGO or a similar brand to find a US based version that doesn't cost as much as the part to ship. I spoke to the Steve at EMGO that has been there about 20 years and he said he could not recall them ever having a switch for the NT650. According to searching around that switch is also used on the CB400SF from about 1993. Still no help in finding a local version. Just a shame it costs so much to ship. I was thinking by ordering more than one they would consolidate the freight but no such luck.
