    New Bike!

    Updated with pictures!

Just wanted to give Steve Lenac and Hord a big shout out and thank you. Steve put together a race bike for me out of his piles of bikes. Yay! She's ugly, for now, but I'm super happy.

We drove out to Hord's yesterday to pick it up. Hord threw it up on the dyno and gave me stickers.

I haven't taken any pictures yet, (we spent today making the boy's race bike pretty) and forgot to before we took the bodywork off - need to sand repaint and make her purdy.

Geez, I didn't realize that hpr stickers were such a hot commodity. I'll have to put tight security on them, make sure someone doesn't try peeling them off the bike.

What part of getting up at 3AM to pick up a trailer and then drive through a snowstorm in Indiana to get to Ohio, only to turn around after picking up the bike and driving 8 hours back home sounds like fun?

          Totally worth it though.

Now I'm off to research spray bombing bodywork. Going with flat black and Badtz-Maru decals to match my leathers for now. ("team" colors are aqua and orange, but I don't have the money for proper paint) Was thinking of trying to get 647 as a number, although it appears after the dyno run, 663 would be more accurate. Is that hokey? I just don't know what else to pick for a number. The previous numbers on it were 676. Maybe I just stick with that being part of the bike's history. (Yeah, I know, I'm overthinking the really serious stuff here - but hey, Steve went through the bike completely, and it's ready to run as is after some suspension tweaks.)

Uh, sorry JD, didn't realize that stickers could cause such a ruckus.

                  SM,
thats cool so youve teased us with the fact its a 663 but can you let us know the rest of the motor story? Do you think you might be able to scan the dyno charts?

                  Cheers,
                  Marc

There's nothing particularly exotic about it, when Steve was working on it he said that the motor is 1mm over with higher compression pistons, some light port work, and X-8 cams. She makes 62hp. I didn't get a chart printout because we dynoed it just as a "lets see what happens". I'm not enough of a geek to care much beyond that.

I don't know who originally built the motor, but when it was being raced back in the day, aparently it did alright. It wont be able to compete with the Ducs in ULW but whatever. I'm not trying to set the world on fire.

It's got F3 fork uppers, Hawk lowers, and an F3 wheel with some crazy Kosman floating rotor thingy. I'll never find another one of those rotors. Fox shock, and he put on brand spankin' new Woodcraft rearsets and bars.

Bodywork is RC30 stuff that needs a bit of attention, but I'll take pics of it before I start pissing off my neighbors with the sound of sanding and smell of fiberglass resin in the basement.

I've got a set of bodywork off a Hawk if you're interested. Red. Great shape. Even has mount for the upper. I'm in Portage, WI.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is.

Um, you didn't happen to buy the bodywork from RobbZ did you? If so, that came off of the track hawk I used to ride. I'm good for now, just need Steve to find the lower that goes with the upper the bike came with.

Here's a couple pics of it pulled apart to refinish the bodywork.
Joel, if you can't id the front wheel from this photo, I've got a better one that I have to resize and upload... and if you've got rain rubber in decent shape, I'd definitely like to take you up on that.

It's hard to tell - but I think the probability of it being a CBR1000F front rim is fairly high.If you want, just email me the whatever sized pic- not like I'm any kind of expert on Hawks,CBR's or anything else so keep the expectations on a joelian level.

I'll give Dumbass a call tonight and see if there's any chance that he might be able to just ship the rims-and to check the dates on the tires.
