    Track/Sport Leathers

I'm in the market for a 2 piece set of leathers that I can use for track days and street riding, there's a boatload of brands and styles out there and I was hoping to get some input from people that have already gone through the searching/buying process.

    What size are you?

I have a set of Teknic Chicane 2 piece that I bought last year for about $400. I like them but I am going racing and I am looking at 1 piece suits.

The Teknic are inexpensive because they are a little thinner than the $1000 suits and the stiching isn't as great. I still think it is a good suit for someone who is not racing all the time.

There is a thread on NESR about leathers...

People speak highly of Vanson, Alpinestars and Joe Rocket...

Considering the price, I fancy the idea of going to a fabric store, buying the thickest vinyl they have, and sewing together my own suit, maybe with velour lining on the inside, and maybe a helmet attachment that turns it into a pimp hat.

Sorry, that's all I have. I'd just check ebay.

I have a Fieldsheer ventilated zip in pair of pants I am looking to get rid of. Worn for 3 trackdays and never seen the ground. MSRP for $250 will let go for $150 + ship.

        I will get Pic later....

I wonder if those pants will zip into my Fieldsheer jacket...?

            Good Thread started here.

Manufacturers to stay away from when buying a one piece suit?

I've got Alpinestars' Ice jacket and Track pants; Sidi B2's and a pair of short-cuffed gloves from SpeedRag (got my eye on the Held Akira glove). I like the Alpinestars jackets because they're cut on the trim side.

Thanks for all the great info guys. On the forum Doc linked to there was a link to a good leather co. in Fla. www.syedleathers.com Looks like a place I can invest in a simple custom tailored suit, and then add to or alter it through the company if I need to.

Anyone know of other custom shops like this, I think its a good way to go.
