What's Race Tied on your bike?

When I got my hawk it had already been to a track day or so and had the brake bolts and pipes tied up. Looking at the Ryan Chapin page I noticed some other bits had been tied up like the bolts for the oil lines between the cylinders. Do these work loose on the track? What else do you guys have tied?

If you think it will come loose/ fall off and ruin your day/leas fluids on the track safetywire it.

Most racing organizations mandate that any bolt that retains fluid (i.e. brake/oil banjo bolts, oil drain, oil filler, radiator cap, etc. be safety wired) as well as exhaust systems and brake mounting hardware. Mechanically speaking if you are using the correct length hardware and the threads are undamaged NO hardware should ever come lose. The saftey wire is for two reasons, 1 to provide a visual reminder to tighten hardware and 2 in the event a bolt were to break. You would be surprised how many experienced racers loose calipers due to mechanics forgetting to tighten/ replace hardware. It even happened to Eddie Lawson at Laguna Seca.

It is even common for racers to run safety wire up through the mounting springs on their exhaust systems to help prevent losing a spring.

P.S. Be nice to me, I am new here. -Crash
