    NYC Dwellers - Track Days???

    Peeps,

    Been thinking about track days....

New York Sportbike Club run track days at Pocono raceway.

Its just over 100 miles from town (apparentley)

If 2-3 of us got together we could rent a van and get ourselves down there (and on track) for not a great deal of money!!

    Any takers?

      Be warned!

IF you go to the track start saving your money now. You WILL be bitten buy the racing bug and there is no cure...

Congrats guys! I can't wait for the reports

I'm pouring my $$$ into making the Hawk a near-show bike right now, but... How much is a track day? I am interested...

If nothing else, I'd just wanna be there.

This AINT racing.... You can go as fast or slow as you like on the track and so as long as you have an ounce of self preservation you 'should' be able to keep it right side up!!

Quite a few New Yorkers make it out to Loudon all the time. Not as close as Pocono, but another option.

                track time

i hit the poconos last september with a friend with New York Sportbike club. i rode the hawk and my friend rode his cb-1. we had a blast, and i will definitely be going at least twice or three times again this year.

i'd give it 2 hours to get out there. another 2 hours to get back. we rode the bikes out on a wed. night to a very nearby hampton inn. we then rode all day on thursday, and rode back thursday night. if someone were to get a van, i'd get in on that.

                excellent fun.

and yeah, you may well get bitten by the racing bug as i did at the penguin racing school. my wife may well disagree, but worse things can happen to a rider.

A motel/hotel + a hire van split 4 ways should work out pretty damn cheap I reckon...

                  Rock on summer!!!!

Sounds like, what? $200 all together?

                        Worth it.

The club runs two courses and of the 2 the East course (red on the arial photo) looks better to me with more corners and perhaps not quite as fast a main straight. As weve all got standardish motors shorter straights are probably better...
Here's some track maps I scored off the web...

The first date with the East course is Friday May 11th...
Assume we travel Thursday night from NYC and return Friday night.

                            So....

                            NYSC membership = $40 each

                            Truck rental = $150ish(?) shared
I recently moved and used manhattan mini storage. Got a 15ft Truck with loading ramp which was really good. Paid around $100 for 1 days rental.
Only problem is that the truck officially seats 2. Anybody got a car, share the gas(?)

                            Track Time =$160 each

                            Motel/Hotel =$140 shared
Best Western 8 miles away. Thats for 2 rooms 2 peeps in each.

                            So that makes....

                            Pretty much $300.

Sounds expensive but TRUST me... Well worth it!!!

                            BTW they have 3 groups.
B is for the fast boys.
C is where I think I'll try to get into. People who have been on track before and feel OK overtaking and being overtaken on corners.
D newbies . Overtaking on straights only
