About 25 years ago I was supposed to meet the guy that invented that metal boot, Don Emde?, but he wasn't at his small ranch when we went there. One of Ed Kretz's sons was going to introduce me.
I wanted to see the small dirt track that Don had at his place as well as meet another racing legend. I only got to meet the Iron Man once before he passed.
Wasn't a planned visit, we just happened to be in the area and decided to stop by. We were out riding and just happened to end up near Don's place so the Tin Boy suggested we stop by and say Hi to Don.

Already had to have the plate repaired twice.
As tall as I am I don't use the seat much. So learning I would spend 3/4s of the lap standing. Wore through them quick.

Worst case scenario here was getting in a wreck with one of the superstars because I didn't hold a linen after that was wrecking and bringing out a red during a good race. Followed by breaking down and/or getting lapped.
All in all good.
I may be the fastest speedway rider ever to race in road race gear. Hahah.

Not the best races or closest but there where no mistakes and we finished both, that was the goal riding with the fast guys.
