  • Palm Beach International Raceway is in trouble.

For those of us who spend time in South Florida, a local legend may be going away. This would be my second “home” track to get sold off to developers. Usually, the “locals” want to do away with all of the noise the tracks create on weekends…at least that was the public pushback out in Bridgehampton, NY when I was first exposed to the racing scene in the late ‘80’s. I’ve done a few track days at PBIR and it’s less than 20 minutes from my house…doesn’t get much better than that.

If you’ll miss it like I will, tell Palm Beach County how you feel about loosing a legend.

The owner of Palm Beach International Raceway wants to sell it to a company that will redevelop it into an industrial park. Locals aren't happy.
    I need a bigger garage.

It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it.

This is the first time I've seen this track. Both the long course and kart track look really cool. It would be a shame to lose it.

Bridgehampton!! Now your talkin ... I went there to see my first race, too! I was about 10 years old (1962) and saw Dan Blocker (Hoss Cartwright in Bonanza tv series) in the pit lane running his Can-Am team.

Bridge had some awesome asphalt and great camping in the pits. Was a very sad day when they closed it down and the developers moved in to make some more summer-share houses for the City crowd. Lots of great memories.
