    my work in progress

This is my hawk so far - this is a camera-phone pic when i was roughing it together so bear with me. The mounts for my monster seat are done - now i'm working on shoehorning everything into the battery box and still actually have room for the battery - can it be leaning very much? I just finished making a mount to run a LED monster taillight and this weekend, i will attempt to pipe and jet the thing and a through-the-arm rear brake line when the wheels are off for painting. Carbon Fiber monster side covers are on the way. Thanks to Hord for his technical assistance and Ross for help with the seat swap. The plan right now is to finish this, then 929 fork and new shock then just ride the hell out of the thing. Any suggestions on colors? I'm partial to gloss black wheels. Anyone seen a white hawk? Also, will a 160 rear tire work or should I run a 150?

    put a 170 rear on

    can a 150 even fit???

has for color pick something that contrasts with the dark CF parts IMO
white would be cool if thats what you where thinking.

does the tank sit better now the seat swap is all done???
looks like you got 2-3 inchs between the tank and the frame rails

i didn't think a 170 would fit. if it does, that'd work for me. yeh, the picture shows a gap between the tank and frame but its just from where I didn't have it sitting on there all the way...threw it on real quick to take the pic to send to my bro. I had a cbr before and like the Hawk with the original tank. I like the way it looks and maybe because it feels different. maybe i will feel different when i actually get to ride it. yeh, i was toying with the idea of white with the carbon accents - kinda wish the cowl was carbon. I was leaning towards black because it always looks good but then i saw a bunch of black bikes outside a bar and they all looked so similar and didnt really stand out. I can't rock anything like yellow or orange - just isn't me.

if you got a stock rim you can run a 180

thanks, i appreciate it. right now, i am working on putting the M4, unipods and some Michelin pilots on, then i have to wire up the taillight. it's been apart for so long now - i'm dieing to ride it again. -its so close but still has a little ways to go.

You can pinch a 170 on the stock rear rim but it's compressed so much that you only gain being able to say that you have a 170 on the back.Stock size is a 150/70 that most people eashew in favor of a 160 but IMO the best tires for the rear are a 150/60 - assuming you already have the shock and extra ride height all Hawks should have.Wider isn't necessarily better- stock motored Hawks are the most fun with well set up suspension on a sticky 110/150 combo, gotta play to the bike's advantage.
