    My Hawk Rebuild

Well, here it is a 1988 Hawk Gt. I picked her up about 2 months ago from a local Hawkster name Jay in San Francsico, and from that point on my life has never been the same !

She had majority of the upgrades that people would do to their hawk, but since she has over 38k on the body and it had other little minor issues with it like:
    the radiator was leaking
Top Thermo unit was no good,
Needed to replace some water hoses
Pulled the clip on to the bottom (more racer stance)
cleaned off all the grind with a tootbrush
    Replaced the clutch
    Rewire the hoses for Unipods
    Painted a couple of things
    Valve adjustment
    Tune up
    New swing arm bearings
    Dustseals
    Some mis, electrical parts
    ect
So I decided to purchase another Parts bike hawk with only 19k on the motor. So since I had one hawk for parts and the other to rebuild, this made my life alot easier for parts!

So here she is when I bought her.

You can't really up load picture to this site.. you will have to find a picture hosting site to up load to and then place a direct link into the post.

I use photo bucket I think.. its free if you don't care about the mind altering advertisements.

When I try to have a look at your picture I get a forbidden response, it's mostly due to the fact you need to registry with them.
      Try photo bucket

You need to upload your pictures to an image hosting site first.
        Foe example I use http://photobucket.com/register.php?link=topmenu
        Its free to join.
Then once you have followed the instructions Sign in and you normally have a "Browse" button which when pressed will ask where the Picture
on your PC is. Locate your file and press "Upload" after a few seconds
your picture will appear in your Photobucket Album.

Underneath your uploaded picture will be three links
Left click the "Image Code" which will automatically highlight it and then
right click it and select "Copy"

Then go to the HawkGTForum and the into the section you want to put it
right click and select "Paste" and your picture should appear.

So since the motor felt a little tired (as you can see how the previous owner rode it, but that is how I ride it today as well in the twisties!) I decided to make her breath new life. So I put in my spare motor that only has 19k on it. This is when I pulled the old motor and swapped in the new motor.

So since the motor was out, I thought that I would check the swingarm bearings and dustseals. So I decided I might as well change out them out, because I'mma gonna be owning this Hawk for a VERY LONG TIME! It came from the other parts hawk, because that one had less milage on it, and looked alot cleaner. That ment I had to change out the wheels and whole rear assembly!

But then I ran into a stock set of clean gray plastics and tank, with a hindle titanium exhaust. I also have a corbin on there as well, and this is how it sits today. Boy do I love this bike!

As for the pipe, make sure you pack it well, becase all the packing will shoot out. Then that gets pretty loud, you might just scare a harley out of the way!
