I just wrapped my header pipes... good idea? or not?

Anybody want to share they're opinion on wrapping header pipes? Does it really keep the heat down? I decided to do it because I'm running a set of NC-35 fairings on my bike and they get pretty close to the pipes in a couple spots...

Yes it helps a lot. I had a HRC pipe on my RC30 and also a HRC large oil pan the gap between them was only a few mm. My oil temp went way up until I wrapped the pipes. Great stuff!

Please be careful when you wrap your headers. You don't simply wrap it around and around and around and clamp it at the end. You MUST clamp it or tie it off with safety wire when you begin and every foot or two (or you can use a couple of hose clamps). When you finish you should finish with a hose clamp. If the wrap unravels for any reason: (from where you started, from where you ended, or if you spliced or ground through it by dragging the headers) it can become tangled in the running gear and cause a crash for you or someone else. Be safe.

I used hose clamps and made sure that it was wrapped super tight!

Looks awesome, lets see it with the fairing! And if you didn't use your manual to wrap those pipes then YOU'RE A SQUID! haha

I guess I am out numbered here, but personally I don't like it...I think your bike from what I can see is BAD ASS and that it takes away from the look some...Maybe if the wrap was black it would look better to me, I just thing the bike is sweet and I get the feel of "medical gauze" up your headers, I don't know, just my opinion, but cool bike man...
Damn right it's a Hawk GT
