    My Hawk

Can't seem to find the photos I took when I first bought 'er , but after a winter of cleaning and some TLC this is how she looked after the first ride

Pretty much rode 'er that way for the first year, than started changing a few more things, such as reflective Hawk logos and tank protector strips

painted the fork lowers and wheels a nice satin finish black

added Steve Lenac's big bake kit (crappy pic of the bracket)

and then it looked like this

    some mods in the works:

hmmm... the seat project looks interesting. Are you doing it so you're clsoer to the pegs? I've got long ass legs and looking at that makes me wanna crap already lol

No, it actualy helped a little for me (I don't have long legs, but bad knees from previous accidents) If you look, I only shaved foam from the rear portion of the seat, and only enough to bring it close to level with the front. The flatter seat helps by not pushing me forward into the tank as much. I've also done some test runs with a layer of firm closed cell foam over that, cut from a camping matress underpad, and two layers really helped unkink my knees. I'm still up in the air as to if I'll get around to finishing it, I'm trying to find a decent priced monster seat if I can so I have some options on what to do over the winter..

Looks like you're going for the profile of the Corbin "gunfighter" seat. I like it - I'd make the "peak" higher in the rear section though.

          Hey Kilter,

Do you have a picture of your bike from the front? I've been looking into getting a flyscreen as I use my bike as a commuter. Most of the things I've seen I haven't really liked. Yours looks pretty good from the side but I can't quite get a feel for the whole thing. What kind is it?

          Thanks!

Good enough as is. That "dark" look is hot. You've just convinced me to paint my wheels black. Not that I haven't eventually convinced myself to do that with every bike I've owned.

here's what I have picture wise of the front

              and

much nicer than the givi that came with the bike

              its from http://www.nationalcycle.com/catalog...rtShields.html
the F-16 sport model, third one down on page, I really wanted the second one down the 'tour' for the extra height and wind protecton, but it didn't come in dark tint, and I couldn't see the light tint working with what I had planned for the bike.

Sorry, Givi long gone, went to Steve Lenac as part of a swap of parts and cash for his BBK

I like the screen too, but like I said, I would have prefered the taller one. It makes 120-130km/h more comfortable, but still some buffeting unless I tuck right down and rest my chin/chest on the tank bag. At much more legal speeds 100km/h (60ish mph) It takes 90 per cent of the brunt of the wind off me, keep in mind that I ride more upright than some, with stock bars and bad lower back, I tend to cruise sitting straight up, and prefer to only tuck in for short hi speed blasts or when I'm on a more curvy series of roads, at which point wind speed is less important than corner speed... lol

Tucked up and close but still clears the rear tire nice

Hugger and Wilbers installed, first mock up of tank/seat

Final positioning done, now just have to sort out the wires and mount the tail light....
